Kfar Ivri Reunion
Scheduled Jan. 14

A reunion of campers who at-
tended the Kfar Ivri Hebrew-
speaking village at Camp Tama-
rack for the past two years is
planned for 8 p.m. Jan. 14 at the
Esther Berman Building of the
United Hebrew Schools.
Last year's director, Avigdor
Klingman, will show slides and
movies of Kfar Ivri activities, and
the students will participate in
dancing, singing and skits. Re-
freshments will be served.
Kfar Ivri is a- cooperative ven-
ture of the United Hebrew
Schools and the Fresh Air So-
ciety which began four years
ago. It offers Hebrew high school
students an opportunity to en-
joy a camping experience in com-
bination with some serious study
of Hebrew and related subjects.
The camp meets for four weeks
in July.
Rabbi Jay Braverman, registrar
of the Midrasha and principal of
the United Hebrew Schools High
School, will be director of Kfar
Ivri for 1967.
Rabbi Braverman requests that
all interested high school students
contact him at UN 4-1115 to insure
a reservation for this coming
season.

Beth Moses United Synagogue
Youth was the recipient of a na-
tional USY award for outstand-
ing achievement at the 16th annual
USY convention in St. Louis, Dec.
22-25.
The highest form of recognition
for USY programing, the award
is the latest in a series for Beth
Moses, youngest USY chapter in
the Detroit area.
It has also won in the past year
and a half regional recognition for
outstanding improvement and a
regional award for programing.

The chapter will host a square
dance 8 p.m. Jan. 14 for all USYers
and friends at Beth Moses.
Proceeds will go to the national
USY project of "Building Spiritual
Bridges with Israel." For informa-

The Young People's Society of
Temple Beth El will present "Bye,
Bye Birdie," starring Marc Pearl
and Teme Levbarg, 8:30 p.m. Sat-
urday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the
temple.

Jackson Hosts Week End
of State's Temple Youth -

Michigan State Temple Youth
will hold its second general board
meeting of the year this week end
in Jackson, hosted by the Jackson
Temple Youth Group.
All MSTY general board mem-
bers are invited to take part in the
religious services, business meet-
ings and fun 'sessions.

Adas Shalom's entire Sabbath
service will be conducted by mem-
bers of United Synagogue Youth
chapters, youth congregations and
.confirmation classes 8:40 a.m. Sat-
urday.
The teen-agers will participate
in the chanting and the reading of
the Tora, as well as the sermon
and responsive readings. Among
the participants are Maxine Finkel,
Ralph Goren, Ilene Grossman, Joel
Kaplan, Danny Marwil, Susan
Newman, Mark Schneider, Neil
Schneider,' Doris Seligson, Daniel
Shevitz, Steven Sinkoff, Wendy
Thoryn and Elaine Zaks.
Services will be followed by a
youth cultural luncheon in the
social hall.

Toronto Group Guests
Dramatics Society Formed of Bnai Moshe USY

at Mishkan Israel School

Bnai Moshe Senior Chapter of
United Synagogue Youth will host
the USY chapter of Beth Emeth,
Toronto, this weekend.
The "Culture Weekend" will in-
clude an oneg Shabbat this eve-
ning, services Saturday morning,
a Shabbat luncheon and discussion
groups, Mincha, Maariv and Hav-
dala services. The social evening
will include a tobogganing party.

Rabbi Yitschak Kagan, prin-
cipal of Mishkan Israel Afternoon
School, announced the formation
of a dramatics society.
Class plays will be performed
before the entire school, and the
best actors from each will be
trained for a "professional," full-
length play to be presented during
the spring term.

Forty works by the noted Israeli
artist, MOTKE BLUM, will be
exhibited for three weeks, begin-
ning Jan. 15, at Emerging Arts
Gallery, 14 E. 95th St., New York.
Included in the exhibition will be
Motke's oils, gouaches, collages,
mosaic and metal work.

Drawings by Sophie Fordon and
sculpture by Pamela Walsh will
be featured in an exhibition at
RUBINER GALLERY, Royal Oak,
opening Sunday with a reception
1-5 p.m. and continuing through
Feb. 4. Mrs. Fordon, who teaches
at the Jewish Center, uses ink and
wash and oil on paper drawings
of people. Hours of the showing
are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily
except Sunday, and evenings by
appointment.

meet Wednesday at Emerson
School, Royal Oak. James E.
Grandberry, director of on-the-job
training for Detroit and a director
of the Detroit Hearing Center, will
speak on "Employment Opportuni-
ties for the Handicapped." Newest
audio-visual equipment for the deaf
and hard of hearing will be dem-
onstrated.

the DETROIT BOARD OF EDU-
CATION has announced that
the weekly Winter Term Real Es-
tate Class will commence 7 p.m.,
Monday, and continue for 12
weeks at Henry Ford High School.

AMSTERDAM — The Amster-
dam Jewish community presented
Tuesday to Princess Marguerite
and her fiance, Dr. Pieter van Vol-
lenhousen, a certificate for 20 trees
in the Dutch wood in Israel on the
occasion of the couple's forthcom-
ing marriage Tuesday,

Temple for the Department of
Michigan Jewish War Veterans'
"Night of Stars" 8 p.m. Sunday.
Leib, who is under exclusive
contract to the Fisher Theater,
has been released by the Neder-
lander family to play the benefit
for needy veterans, which will
star Alan King and Totie Fields.
Leib's son Donald, a World War
II veteran, is a member of a local
JWV Post.
Russian-born, Leib has been
in Detroit since 1922 and re-
ceived his formal musical edu-
cation in St. Louis with the
help of an older brother.
JWV's 12 state posts have co
operated on this silver anniversary
fund-raising event, which culmin-
ates a three-month effort.
The individual posts have pro-
vided, from their own rehabilita-
tion funds, tickets for a group of
Selfridge Field airmen and their
wives, according to Department
Commander Jack Berman and De-
partment President Mrs. William
Love.
