RUMORS ABOUT Darbys are
definitely not true! . The popular
and widely known all around eat-
ery, has not been sold and there
is no intention of selling it . .
In fact, business at Darby's is up
even greater than last year . . . So

THE DANCE FLOOR IS down

on Fridays and Saturdays.

BOESKY'S on James Couzens
will not be a delicatessen when
taken over by its new owner . .
Thoughts that it might be trans-
formed into a nitery are not con-
firmed . . Will probably be a
dining spot, with bar.

BIRTH OF THE DETROIT
Chapter of Saints and Sinners was
told in the final Jewish News
issue of '65, opening up the 1966
year for The Best of Everything
column . .. "The Saints and Sin-
ners of coastal fame will have its
Detroit inauguration soon launched
by native localite Turk Prujansky
. . . Coming into town for this gala
shindig to open the great Saints
and Sinners are names that would
individually pack a house . .
Billy Daniels, George Raft, Harry
Richman, Maxie Rosenbloom, Billy
Gray and others . . . Also here
will be Jerry Webber and Sam
Mannis, founders of the Saints and
Sinners in Los Angeles over 16
years ago . • . The date is set for
Jan. 31, and here's how member-
ship works . . . All monies re-
ceived are given toward helping
retarded children . . . It costs $25
a year to join Saints and Sinners
. The hilarious meetings, for
men only, usually single out all
new members as the "victims." ...
Among them might be a judge,
president of a steel mill or owner
of an automobile plant . . . Makes
no difference who they are or what
they are . . . All get the same
"roasting" . . . Barbs loaded with
aspersions are thrown at them
perhaps about their personal or
business life or character ... They
don't know its all a joke—that the
huge audience is in on the entire
bit, prepared to •be limp from
laughter at the goings-on por-
trayed in mock seriousness against
the guests of honor ... This is
the famous Saints and Sinners
that'll have its Detroit inaugur-
ation, Jan. 31 . .. The Detroiters
will build a hospital for retarded
children, with the finest staff of
doctors and nurses available."
. . . What started out with
just a handful of guys is now in
the big membership list of almost
300, with no stops in sight.

AD MAN DAN KALTER tells
the one about a yoUng wife who
went to visit her mother for a
week left several notes about the
house for her husband . . . one
in the coffee can reminded him of
her love, and another on the TV
set asked him to do some errands
— but the one he found among
his white shirts brought him up
short . . . It read: "Where do you
think you're going that you need
a white shirt?"
