Finance Minister PINHAS SAP-
IR of Israel is coming to the
United States to report on Israel's
current economic problems and its
development needs in 1967 at a
planning conference of the board
of governors of the Israel Bond
Organization, to be held at the
Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, New York,
Jan. 13 to 15, it was announced by
Louis H. Boyar, chairman of the
board of governors.

MRS. ARNOLD RUBENSTEIN,
prominent St. Paul Jewish com-
munal leader, has been appointed
chairman of the national commit-
tee on women's communal service
of the Council of Jewish Federa-
tions and Welfare Funds, it was
announced this week. Mrs. Ruben-
stein, who served as a vice chair-
man of the committee last year,
succeeds Mrs. Harry L. Jones of
Detroit.

at Harvard University, will speak

NeW York attorney, has been
elected to the board of directors
of the Jewish Theological Semi-
nary of America, according to an
announcement made jointly by
Chief Judge Stanley H. Fuld, re-
cently designated chairman of the
board, and Dr. Louis Finkelstein,
Seminary chancellor. Abram's
election to a three year term
brings the board to a full mem-
bership of 25.

DR. ODED LEVIN, lecturer in
operations research in the depart.
ment of industrial and manage-
ment engineering at the Technion,
Israel Institute of Technology,
has been chosen by the Associa-
tion of Engineers and Architects
in Israel as the recipient of the
Arnan Prize for 1966 for his re-
search on "Optimal Utilization of
an Aquifer as an E 1 e m e n t of
Water-resources Sys t e m." This
prize, to the value of 1,500 pounds
($500) is awarded each year in
memory of the late engineer M. A.
Arnan for original reserach in the
field of engineering or architecture
in Israel.

Dr. MARK L. KAHN, professor
and chairman -of the department
of economics at Wayne State Uni-
versity, has been appointed to the
executive committee of the Eco-
nomic Society of Michigan (ESM).
The new organization is an asso-
ciation of professional economists

countries, sailing from New York
on April 7.

pedia Judaica Research Funda-

tee, it was announced here. Dr.
Lachman was for 23 years with
the Hebrew University as research
fellow, member of its Institute of
History, its delegate for Latin
America and executive vice presi-
dent of the American Friends of
the Hebrew University. For some
time he was the personal repre-
sentative in the United States of
Israel's minister of culture and
education.
