HIGHLIGHTS

Dr. Richard C. Hertz of Temple
Beth El will begin a series of five
weekly broadcasts over WQRS-FM
(105.1 on the dial) based on his
forthcoming book, "What Can a
Man Believe?," to be published in
January by Bloch Publishing Co.
of New York.
Each week, starting Thursday, at
12:30 p.m., D r .
Hertz will discuss
one chapter of his
book and present
highlights of faith
:oncerning the ba-
sic beliefs of Ju-
daism.
In introducing
this series of
broadcasts, D r .
Hertz said: "Lib-
Dr. Hertz
eral Jews are be-
ing challenged to define and de-
fend their beliefs in the contexts of
the last third of the 20th Century
situation. Judaism has distinctive
convictions for our day. It is not
like a jellyfish standing for noth- ,
ing. It has requirements of con-
science. It has commitments to
what is sacred and holy. It has
beliefs about God, about religion,
about the nature of man and sin,
about the good life, about the af-
terlife. What we need is a capsule
form of a blueprint of faith for
modern man."
