Alan R. Goldman Gets
Manufacturers Post

Alan R. Goldman has been pro-
moted to assistant cashier of Manu-
facturers National Bank, it was
announced by Roland A. Mewhort,
president.
Goldman joined Manufacturers
in 1963 after earning his M.B.A.
degree from the University of

Michigan.

He is a member of the Bond
Club of Detroit and the Beth
Aaron Congregation.
Goldman, his wife. Edie, and
daughter. reside on Greenfield Road
in Royal Oak. He is the son of
Mr. and Mrs.' Julius Goldman of

of Language Teaching to
New Hebrew Courses

NEW DELHI — A branch of
the Bnai Brith has been establish-1
ed in India with Dr. Arie Schmet-
terling as president.
Dr. Schmetterling, in an address
to the Jewish community of Mad-
ras, explained the constitution of
the new branch and reported on
activities of the order, including
those of the principal section in
the United States.
Pope Paul VI Monday received
two Bnai Brith leaders in a private
audience for a 20-minute discus-
sion of efforts by the United Na-
tions and the Catholic Church to
promote human rights and reli-
gious liberty.
(The delegation included Bnai
Brith President William A. Wex-
ler and Saul Joftes, secretary-
general of the organization's inter-
national council. The Bnai Brith
leaders were to fly to Spain for a
meeting with Generalissimo Fran-
cisco Franco, in Madrid.)

Three new courses in the newly
developed St. Cloud Audio-Visual
method for teaching modern He-
brew will begin at the Jewish Cen-
ter the week of Jan. 9. The course
is for those with no previous
knowledge of the language.
Simulating an Israeli "Ulpan" it
enables participants to acquire a
comfortable working knowledge of
Hebrew in a relatively short time.
The first of the four-semester
course consists of 24 sessions over
a 12-week period. The class, limit-
ed to 20, meets twice a week.
Courses will be given at morning,
noon and evening hours.
