will conduct an oneg Shabbat 8:45

Guest speaker will be Zalman
Zylberzweig, editor of the Yiddish
Theater Lexicon. The fifth volume
of the lexicon has just been pub-
lished and is dedicated to the
artists who died in the Nazi hola-
caust.
Zylberzweig will speak in Yid-
dish on "The Perilous Journey of
the Artist Martyrs."
There will be community sing-
ing, and refreshments will be
served. All are welcome, Admis-

Mrs. Morris Gelfond of Vancouver, B.C., was a guest at a family
gathering here recently, while visiting her sons, Allan and Charles
Gelfond, 18048 Woodingham. Mrs. Gelfond, president of the Sisterhood
of Scharei Tzedek Synagogue in Vancouver, was on her way home
from the 43rd national convention of the Woman's Branch, Union
of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, at Washington, D. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold B. Greenblatt, 21651 Stratford, Oak Park,
were at the Wigwam Country Club Resort near Phoenix, this week.
Mr. Greenblatt, agency manager in the Detroit metropolitan area for
American United Life Insurance Co., earned the trip for successful
agency manpower development in 1966.
On the occasion of the 175th commemoration of Mozart's death,
Marguerite Kozenn Chajes, who is now visiting in Vienna, was invited
to speak over the Voice of America radio and was introduced as
"Mrs. Mozart of Detroit."
Mr. and Mrs. William J. Haga (Marjie Serlin) are now residing
in their new home at 1116 Ridge Road, Highland Park, Ill.

Both are studing at the Univesity
of Michigan, where Miss Schle-
singer is affiliated with Delta Phi
Epsilon sorority and Mr. Syme with
Tau Delta Phi fraternity.
They plan a late summer wed-
ding.
`Open Occupancy'
for All Aged Jews
at Detroit Home
In accordance with a directive
from the federal government that
agencies receiving public funds
advise the community that they
are open to all, regardless of color,
the Detroit Jewish Home for Aged
issued the following statement:
"The policy of the Jewish
Home for Aged is to admit all
members of the Jewish faith
without regard to race, color, or
national origin."
The statement, made in ac-
cordance with provisions of Title
18 in the Civil Rights Act, was
issued by the board of directors
of the home at its recent board
meeting.

Edward I. Fleischman, chairman
of the executive committee. inform-
ed the board that alterations being
made at the Petoskey home should
be completed by the middle of
April. When completed. 50 addi-
tional infirmary beds will be made
available.
Sandorf Elden Named
Ann Arbor City Judge
Sandorf J. Elden, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Jerome L. Elden, 19180
Appleton, has been appointed Ann
Arbor Municipal Court Judge to
fill a one-year vacancy.
Elden, 42, received a law de-
gree at Wayne State University
in 1950. A World War II veteran,
he organized and was executive
director of the WSU Veterans'
Association. He also was the or-
ganizer and first president of
Alpha Omega National Scout Serv-
ice Fraternity and a member of
the Omicron Delta Kappa National
Honor Society and Mackenzie
Honor Society of Wayne State.
Elden went to Ann Arbor in 1951
and established his law practice
there, joining the city attorney's
staff in 1956.
In the boy scout movement for
more than 30 years, he holds the
scout council's highest award, the
Silver Beaver Award. A member
of Temple Beth Emeth, Elden was
recently appointed co-chairman of
the National Conference of Christ-
ians and Jews.
Married to the former Odes
Lansky, he is the father of two.
