TORONTO (JTA) — Two Jews
were chosen as mayors of their
respective cities in Western Can-
ada. Allan Barsky was elected
mayor of Prince Albert, Sask. At
Flin Flon, Man., Jack Freadman
was chosen mayor.
Samuel S. Lieberman, a promi-
nent Jewish attorney, was sworn in
Edmonton, Alta. as judge of the
District of Northern Alberta. He
is the first Jewish judge in Alberta
and at 44 is the youngest judge
ever appointed to a superior court
in the province. He is active in the
United Jewish Appeal and in Bnai
Brith and is a member of the hoard
