Abraham Rosenblatt,
Hebrew Teacher,
Killed in Mishap

Abraham Rosenblatt, a Hebrew
teacher at Cong. Shaarey Zedek,
was killed in a freak accident Mon-
day night at the Nine Mile-South-
field interchange in Southfield.
Mr. Rosenblatt, 52, had recently
come to Detroit from Grand
Rapids, where he taught at Ahavas
Israel congregation.
The accident occurred, South-
field police said, when Mr. Rosen-
blatt got out of his car to fix a
tire at the side of the four-lane
highway bridge. An eastbound car
skidded on the icy road and into
the victim.
Mr. Rosenblatt's daughter
Sarah, 13, was with him at the
time of the mishap.
Born in Poland, Mr. Rosenblatt
was a concentration camp survivor
and later went to Israel, where he
and his wife served in the army
during the War of Independence.
He lived in Canada before coming
to this country, taught in Israel
and, later, in Utica, N.Y.
Besides his daughter, Mr. Rosen-
blatt leaves his wife, Rose; and a
brother, Wolf of Willowdale, Ont.

Isadore Rogow of LA,
Brother of Detroiter; Was
Honored by UJA

Isadore Rogow, brother of De-
troiter Rose Winokur and an active
member of the Los Angeles Jewish
community, died Sunday at age 72.
Mr. Rogow, born in Lithuania,
lived in Los Angeles the past 20
years. Only recently, he was cited
by the United Jewish Appeal of
Los Angeles for his two decades of
service.
A veteran of World War I, he
was active in the Jewish War
Veterans, and also belonged to
Congs. Mishkan Tephilo and Beth
Shalom and assisted with the Zion-
ist welfare drive.
Besides his sister, Mr. Rogow
leaves his wife, Miriam; a son,
Bernard; a daughter, Debbie; and
five grandchildren.

Dr. J. J. Michaels,
Ex-Detroiter; Was
on Harvard Staff

Former Detroiter Dr. Joseph
Jules Michaels, instructor in psy-
chiatry at Harvard Medical School
since 1936, died Nov. 19 in his Bel-
mont. Mass.. home. He was 64.
Dr. Michaels was the author of
more than 90 books and articles on
the causes of delinquency and im-
pulse character disorders. He had
a private practice in Belmont and
since 1937 had been a training
analyst at the Boston Psychoanaly-
tic Institute.
He held both his bachelors and
medical degrees from the Univer-
sity of Michigan. Three years after
graduating, Dr. Michaels trained at
the Vienna Psychoanalytic Insti-
tute as a Commonwealth Fund fel-
low.
During World War II, as a
major in the medical corps, he
was chief of neuropsychiatric
service at the Newton D Baker
General Hospital in Martinsburg,
W. Va. For his service, he re-
ceived the Legion of Merit
award.
Formerly president of the Bos-
ton Psychoanalytic Society and In-
stitute, Dr. Michaels was a member
of the editorial board of the Jour-
nal of Gerontologic Psychiatry. In
1937, he was named a diplomat of
the American Board of Psychiatry
and Neurology.
At his death, Dr. Michaels was a
visiting psychiatrist at Beth Israel
Hospital in Boston and a member
of the editorial board of the Jour-
nal of the American Psychoanalytic
Association.
Surviving are his wife, Anna;
two sons, George A. and John E.;
two brothers, Stanley J. and Jules
W., both of Detroit; and a sister,
Mrs. Alan (June) Warnick, also
of Detroit.

Morris Fox, past president of
Downtown-Fox Chapter of Bnai
Brith, died Nov. 23 at age 67. The
chapter was named for his son,
Donald, killed in action during the
war.
Mr. Fox, 18065 Schaefer, was
born in Poland and lived in De-
troit 50 years. He was a tailor
by trade. A chapter of Bnai Brith
Young Adults, Dorothy Fox Chap-
ter, was named for his first wife,
Dorothy, who died in 1956.
Surviving him are his wife,
Ethel; a son, Jerome Klein; three
daughters, Mrs. George (Renee)
Schrieber, Mrs. Milton (Marjorie)
Lebenbom and Mrs. Sheldon (Sha-
ron) Schuster of Woodland Hills,
Calif. ; two brothers, four sisters
and eight grandchildren.
