glamour and bright lights, though.

Detroit Auto Shows is to give the
person who's in the market for a
new car a chance to look at all
the models and make his choice.
"We want this to be a family
affair," says Tope. "Dad can look
over the engineering features while
Mom and the kids inspect the styl-

accessories. And they can all get
a good look at the safety features

Catholic Bishops Ask All
to Join Race Bias Fight
WASHINGTON (JTA)—The Na-
tional Conference of C a t h o l i c
Bishops has appealed to all Chris-
tians and Jews and "all men of
good will," as well as Catholics,
to join together to combat racial
discrimination and poverty.
The appeal was contained in a
pastoral statement adopted unani-
mously by the nation's Catholic
prelates, which specifically en-
dorsed open housing with equal op-
portunities for all regardless of
race, creed or color.
The statement also asked that
"reasonable dialogue" repl ace
"slogans" in racial tension deve-
lopments in the United States.
The prelates reaffirmed past
statements of the national confer-
ence, as well as of the Ecumenical
Council last year, that discrimina-
tion based on religion, race, langu-
age or national origins was con-
trary to Christian teachings.
