Kennedy Building at the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center last weekend included Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Meisner (left) and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Blondy. Mrs. Meisner is a member of the board of directors, Detroit Chapter of Hadassah, and Mrs. Blondy is a board member of the Bagley Group. JERUSALEM (JTA)—A $1,000,- 000 building bearing the name of the late President John F. Ken- nedy was dedicated here last week- end at the Hadassah-Hebrew Uni- versity Medical Center. Mrs. Mor- timer Jacobson, national presi- dent of Hadassah, the women's Zionist organization of America, participated in the dedication. The building, she said, will serve 23 an information and tourist re- ception unit for the medical center. Mrs. Jacobson recalled that, in a message to the Hadassah conven- tion in 1962, Mr. Kennedy had stated: "Not only Israel but the entire free world benefits from such projects as the Hadassah- Hebrew University Medic al Center." Mann, director-general of the center; and Myer Feldman, who had served as special counsel to President Kennedy. Feldman represented the Ken- nedy family and also read a mes- sage from President Johnson greet- ing Israel's Prime Minister Levi Eshkol and expressing the hope that the new John F. Kennedy Building will help "advance world medical progress and strengthen the bonds between Israel and the United States." Music Study Club to Hear Protege Ruth Meckler Laredo Mrs. Philip (Faye) Sills of Farmington will receive the Com- munity Service Pin from the Cen- tral Volunteer Bureau of United Community Services in recognition of her services in the program to aid the mentally retarded children at Plymouth State Home and Training School. Named "Vol- unteer -of the Week," Mrs. Sills Mrs. Sills has been honored for her dedication to the pro- gram of physical therapy at the Plymouth State Home. In behalf of the Plymouth State Home, William H. Boyd said: "Al- though she has been a member of our auxiliary for only a few years, she has to her credit an incredible record of 2,000 hours for which she is now being honored." Women's Clubs Group Pushes for UN Rights NEW YORK—Releasing a letter received from Ambassador Arthur J. Goldberg, in which he express- ed the hope that the Senate will ratify the UN Conventions against the crime of genocide adopted in 1948 and the convention to elimin- ate all forms of racial discrimina- tion adopted in 1965 by the UN Assembly, Mrs. Leah Nelson, pre- sident of the Emma Lazarus Fed- eration of Jewish Women's Clubs, said: "We are greatly encouraged and will now intensify our efforts to collect tens of thousands of signatures on the petition we have addressed to President Johnson and the Senate for United States ratification of these conventions." Last July 13, officers of Fed- eration delivered 7,000 signatures on this petition to the United States Mission to the UN with a request to Ambassador Goldberg to present them to President John- son. In his letter, Ambassador Goldberg informed the federation that the petitions were forwarded to the Department of State for transmission to the White House.
