Bar-Han Opens New School of Social
Work; Local Dinner Nov. 30; National
Event Dec. 18 to Honor Vice President

Phillip Stollman, chairman of
the national committee of Ameri-
can Friends of Bar-Ilan Univer-
sity. reported this week that a new
school of social work has been
established at the university in
Israel.
"Detroit's support has been a
source not only of financial assist-
ance but also of great encourage-
ment to the annual dinner of De-
troit Friends of Bar-Ilan Univer-
sity, to be held Nov. 30 at Cobo
Hall.
Stollman also reported that this
year's enrollment at Bar-Ilan in-
creased by 20 per cent over last
year to 2,600; that the natural
science students now number 25
per cent of the entire student
body; that 200 students from
abroad — from 15 countries —
are studying at Bar-Ilan.

Albert A. Kramer, incumbent
State representative for the 67th
District of Oakland County (Oak
Park and Southfield) recently was
named co-chairman of the special
subcommittee of the standing com-
mittee on private corporations, to
study and investigate the matter
of the failure of the Public Bank.

The bank recently was ordered
into receivership and subsequently
sold to the Commonwealth Bank.
Rep. Kramer said the thrust of the
committee, in his opinion, would
be the need to re-examine the
banking laws of the state of Michi-
gan as they relate to the protection
of the depositors and stockholders.
Rep. Kramer is, in addition,
chairman of the House Committee
on Insurance and chairman of the
special committee to study psycho-
logical testing in the public schools.

He introduced and authored
legislation to bring additional
school aid monies to the school
district of the city of Oak Park.
This act netted approximately
$170,000 in additional funds. He
also introduced legislation to
protect policyholders from the
arbitrary cancellation by insur-
ance companies of their automo-
bile policies. This bill has been
signed into law and will affect
all policies written after Nov. 1,
1966.

George Rockwell's American Nazi
Party was refused a permit to hold
an anti-Negro, anti-Semitic "white
power" rally at the main entrance
to the University of California
campus here.
The Nazis wanted to gather
right-wing extremists, including
motorcycle clubs from throughout
California, at a campus demon-
stration Oct. 29, to coincide with
a "black power" rally of the stu-
dents for a Democratic Society, a
campus action group. Berkley Po-

police manpower problems and
the possibility that conflicting as-
semblies would lead to violence
