The VIENNA JOHANN
STRAUSS ORCHESTRA, under the
direction of Eduard Strauss II,
coming to the Masonic Auditorium
Nov. 27, occurs on the eve of
the "Strauss Waltz Year," pro-
claimed by the Austrian govern-
ment for 1967. The arrival of the
Vienna Strauss Orchestra marks
the first visit to 'North America in
65 years.

The AMERICAN BALLET THEA-
TER, under the direction of Lucia
Chase and Oliver Smith, which
this summer staged a State De-
partment-sponsored tour of the
Soviet Union, comes to the Masonic
Auditorium Nov. 18. The Ameri-
can Ballet will include in its rep-
er400rie a revival of Birget Cull-
berg's ballet "Moon Reindeer."
This masterpiece by the noted
Swedish choreographer was intro-
duced by the American Ballet in
1962. Other choreographers whose
work will be represented includes
Agnes DeMille, Michael Fokine,
Harold Lander, Jerome Robbins
and Anthony Tudor.

Despite a recent collision involv-
ing the FRED WARING band bus
and a tractor-trailer- on the Penn-
sylvania Turnpike, placing 24
members of the group in a hospital
for observation, Waring will ap-
pear with his orchestra at the Mas-
onic Auditorium Nov. 12, as sched-
uled.

SOUTHFIELD CIVIC CENTER
PLAYERS is casting for two plays,
Agatha Christie's "Hollow", and a
children's play. Auditions start

"WITHIN THE CIRCLE," a film
about Israel's coins and State
Medals, was awarded a gold medal
at the 1967 International Film and
TV Festival of New York at cere-
monies held last week. The 12-
minute color film was produced
for the Israel Government Coins
and Medals Corporation, Jerusa-
lem. Yitzhak Avni, director gen-
eral of the corporation, received
the medal from Herbert Rosen,
the Festival's official host.

There are a few openings avail-
able for morning, afternoon, and
all day care at the MERRY MEL-
ODY NURSERY. Registration will
take place 10 a.m. to noon, Nov. 26
or by calling Mrs. Holtzman, EL

ment. The program includes
rhythm band, dancing, arts and
crafts, baking, Indian lore and
field trips. Limited transportation
is available.
