Beginning his singing career
as a child in the choir of the
Vilna, Poland, Chor-Shul, Cantor
Kusevitsky's career has taken
him to many European coun-
tries, and he has concertized in
Israel, South America, Canada,
Mexico and the United States.
While still in his 20's he left
Poland, accepting a call to Hen-
don Synagogue, London. In 1949
he came to the U.S., to the pulpit
of o n e of America's leading
congregations, Temple Emanu-
El in Boro Park.

A descendent of a rabbinic fam-
ily, Singer was a student at the
rabbinical seminary in Warsaw but
chose the profession of journalist
for the Yiddish press in Poland
after the completion of his studies.
He came to the United States in
1935 and since that time has
worked as a journalist and book
reviewer for the Jewish Daily For-
ward. His stories have appeared in
the leading Jewish and general
national magazines.
Although he originally wrote in
Hebrew, Singer long ago adopted
Yiddish as the medium of expres-
sion.
