Adult Study Institute will start its
fall lecture series 10:30 a.m. Tues-
day in the synagogue social hall,
Mrs. Joseph Katchke, president, an-
nounces. Rabbi Leonard S. Cahan
is the instructor for the semester
ending Dec. 13. His course is based
on "Royal Families of Israel—Their
Passions, Politics and Personali-
ties." A class in beginners Hebrew
and Sabbath prayers, designed to
help members learn to read the
prayer books and follow Sabbath
and holiday services, will be con-
ducted at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday
morning preceding the lecture. Mrs.
Herman Canner, study institute

will be guest speaker. She will

speak. The opening prayer will
be given by Mrs. Paul Dennis.
There will be community singing,
and refreshments will be served.
Guests are welcome. Mrs. Ben
Z. Freeman and Mrs. Benjamin
H. Gorrelick are co-chairmen of
the oneg Shabbat committee.

Richard Luby to Play
in Home Town for
Annual Artist Concert
Violinist Richard Luby, son of
Detroiters Dr. and Mrs. Robert
Luby, will be a featured soloist at
the Annual Artist Concert of the
Music Study Club, set for 8:30 p.m.
Nov. 27 at the Scottish Rite
Cathedral.
Luby, 22, a graduate of Cass
Tech High School, was a student

where Ivan Gala-
mian was his
teacher. He is
now in his last
year at Curtis In-
stitute of Music

With all this, he also has recitals,
radio playing and symphony work.
Station WGLN last year awarded
Luby the Young Artist Award, and
he was soloist with the Chautauqua
Symphony Orchestra.
Luby will appear on the program
with young pianist Emanuel Ax.

JNF Women Workers
to Hold 'Pre-Kickoff
In advance of its fund-raising
campaign kickoff, the Women's
Auxiliary of the Jewish National
Fund will hold a luncheon for
workers and board members noon
Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Sid-
ney Schwartz, 32681 Inkster, Frank-
lin.
Workers kits will be distributed,
and final instructions will be
given.
Israeli author and poet Bracha
Kopstein will speak, according
to Mrs. Ben Minns, chairman of
the auxiliary board, who is pro-
gram chairman.
Mrs. Albert Posen is chairman
of fund raising, and Mrs. Pearl
Nosan is president.
The campaign kickoff meeting
will be held 12:30 p.m. Nov. 22
at Bnai Moshe Synagogue, and
the drive will conclude in January.
