British JNF to Develop Settlement on Border

LONDON (JTA)
A fund-
raising drive by the Jewish Na-
tional Fund to develop a settlement
on the Syrian border has exceeded
its goal and assured completion of
the project, it was announced here
Monday.
The announcement was made by
Anthony Corre, chairman of the
national council of JNF commis-
sions, at the annual conference of
the council. He said that more
than $63,000 pounds sterling ($1,-
764,000) was raised in the year
ending June 1966, about 12,000
pounds ($33,600) more than dur-
ing the previous year.
The project calls for develop-
ment of about 240 acres for the

settlement, called Korazim Bet,
near Almagor, in Galilee. The
settlement is located between the
Syrian border and a station of
Israel's National Water Carrier.
Reclamation work in that area has
been suspended because of the
tense border situation. The project
will require outlays or more than
100,000 pounds sterling ($2,800,-
000) over a two-year period.
