COMEN'GETAI OA!

EVERY

WEDNESDAY IS 49er DAY

Jackie is on piano, while his other
two members of the group double
their talents . . . Ronny Shandall,
guitar and vocal, and Norm Gar-
ber, "The Little Man With The Big
Voice," gives his all on bass and
vocal . . . Songstress Lori Young
is still appearing at the Penthouse,
and making listeners happy with
her distinctive styling and mas-
tery of the microphone . .. When
Lori and the band are not on
stage, someone would think a
ghost was up there singing
"Tavern In The Town," but closer
scrutinization of the matter re-
veals that its the juke box play-
ing Lori's very fine recording of
the standard.
HILLSIDE INN, this side of
Plymouth, Mich., is worth the ride
for good food . . . Especially on
Wednesday and Saturday nights
. . . Wednesday is a beautiful
buffet and Saturday is Wild Game
Night. Gaining huge favor is their
Regent Steak, a single chateu-
briand for people who don't want
to talk others into it . . . Prices
are reasonable and the food very
good . . . Hillside also has a varied
seafood menu . . . and its Mon.
thru Fri. luncheon buffet in the
new Jacob Room is quite the
thing . . . Over 40 mouth watering
dishes to choose from in a taste
teasing array of delicious gour-
met delight . .. Look for the gas-
lights in the parking lots as iden-
tification to Hillside Inn.
MORRY KING, his violin and
orchestra, has opened a 7-week
engagement at Cafe LaBoheme of
Hotel Pontchartrain . . . and it
is the first time he's been in De-
troit since 1941 . . . Morry was
with Eddie LeBaron's band at the
old Book Casino . . . Now he plays
just two primary long dates a
year . . . at the Sands in Las
Vegas and the Eden Rock in
Miami Beach . . He treats his
Stradivarius violin almost like a
pedigreed dog . . . and he has
the papers to go along with it!
. . The Strad is called "Lady
Margaret" and is of vintage 1691
. . . Cafe LaBoheme has been
changed considerably . . . Com-
plete new menu and waiters and
waitresses now in formal attire
. . . Dancing to Morry's 8-piece
orchestra with its dual pianos is
enjoyable.

No great advance has ever been
made in science, politics, or reli-
gion, without controversy.—Lyman
