On Sukkot Eve, the 14th day
of Tishri Sept. 28), it is in-
scribed, and on this day of cele-
bration the decree is sealed,-
how many shall come unto us, who
shall fatten by food, and who shall
be brought low by wine: who shall
be tranquil and who shall be haras-
sed as we congregate to rejoice
therein and offer blessings upon
those chosen ones:
Ventel and Herschel Willens
Eliazar and Mottle Pinus
Maddell and Menachem Mendel
Berman
who returneth to Israel, holy land
of Abraham."

THIS INVITATION was sent
out to about 55 people by Mary
and Michael Wartell and Sue and
Stanley Marx for what was prob-
ably one of the most unique and
ingenious farewell parties ever
given in the community.
THE HONORED GUESTS. Jean
and Harvey Willens, Lois and Max
Pincus and Madge and Bill Ber-
man. were soon leaving for Israel
and the tie-in was a beautiful bit
of artistry by the hosts and hos-
tesses.
IT STARTED OFF with 7 p.m.
cocktails at the Wartells in Pleas-
ant Ridge, after which a chartered
bus came to- the door completely
decorated as a Sukkot. with signs
reading, "Entrance" and "Exodus"
. . . The happy invitees stepped
on a ramp much like a ship's
gangplank, leading from the War-
tell home to the bus . . . The ramp
was gaily lit with hurricane lamps
all along side, . . . Blue and
white ribbon and Jewish stars
carried on the decorative motif
. . . Off went the bus, while Jewish
and Israeli music played happily
within and a bar setup served
liquid refreshment to warm the
inner souls.
EACH SEAT HAD a box wrapped
up in Yiddish Forward and draped
with an Israeli flag . . . Inside
were hors d'Oevres to delight the
Jewish gourmet . . . miniature
bagel and lox sandwich, schtickel
for a nickel salami (which, in-
cidently, today is ten cents,)
chopped liver, gefulte fish, dill
pickles and Gelusils . . Books
called "Kosher Comics" were
floating around the bus, and Bert
Gordon read "Tishman The Ape
Boy" over the loudspeaker . . .
Paul Zuckerman had his Arabic
head dress which he obtained
while in Nazareth . . . The bus
stopped at Lou's delicatessen,
where trays were brought "on
board - with matzo ball soup for ev-
eryone . . . The night before, Mary
and Sue had brought little chicken
eggs to Lou's . . . and each serv-
ing contained one . . . "It's just
like bubba used to make," said
a delighted Aubrey Ettenheimer.

THEN THE BUS took off again
. . . this time to the Marx home
in Sherwood Forest, where every-
thing was by candlelight and the
decor included yellow and white
check tablecloths with individual
snifter glasses at each place set-
ting and huge bottles of wine
wrapped in grapes . . . There was
halavah, after-dinner mints with
Hebrew names of the honored
guests candied on top, beautiful
outstanding Centerpieces and an
excellent supper menu.
THE LAST GUEST left about
2 a.m. and it was generally agreed
that the farewell get-together by
the Wartells and Marx' will be
as hard to forget as Israel itself
for those who've never been there
before-

An expert is one who knows
more and more about less and less.
