Lady Rachel Lauterpacht, widow of Sir Hershel Lauterpacht, who
represented Great Britain as a judge on the World Court at the Hague,
was honored by relatives at a dinner party in Port Huron last week.
Among the guests were Detroiters Mrs. Frances Solovich and members
of the Bennett family to whom she is related. While in Port Huron,
Lady Lauterpacht stayed with Mrs. Jack Weiss. formerly of Detroit.
An aunt of Mrs. Abba Eban, Lady Lauterpacht went on to New York
to hear Eban address the United Nations General Assembly Tueseday.
Sir Lauterpacht, who was knighted by the Queen of England, died four
years ago.
The Ruda Family Club will meet g:30 p.m. Saturday at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Ruda, 12961 W. Nine Mile, Oak Park. There
will be an election of officers, and refreshments will be served. A
simultaneous branch meeting will be held in Newark, N.J., at the home
of Dr. and Mrs. Aaron Haskin.
Miss Janet Schwartz of Monterey Park, Calif., daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Marvin Schwartz, is visiting with her uncle and aunt, Sey-
mour and Hattie Schwartz, and family, Independence Dr., Southfield.
Miss Schwartz just returned from a dance seminar, to which she won a
scholarship, in Lee, Mass.
Mrs. Goldie Katanick, former Detroiter now living in Redondo
Beach, Calif., will be in Detroit for a week visit beginning Oct. 13.
She will be staying at the M. Katanicks, 24265 Dante, Oak Park.

The lecture by Dr. Shalev Ginos-
sar, noted Israeli jurist and Bnai
Brith's international visiting lec-
turer for 1966, to be given at the
Shaarey Zedek Tuesday, 8:30 p.m.,
is being co-sponsored here by Bnai
Brith and the Shaarey Zedek.
Bnai Brith Men's President Ber-
nard Panush has named Alan War-
sen as Council Adult Jewish Edu-
cation chairman. Mrs. Morris
Fishkin, again will be Women's
Council chairman.
Serving as chairman of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek's adult
Jewish education program is Har-
old Berry. On Berry's committee
are Henry Auslands, Wallace
Handler, Walter Nussbaum, Mrs
William Scheimer and Myer Teitel-
baum.
Judge Ginossar's topic Tuesday
will be "Is Israel Really a Jewish .
State?"
This lecture is open to the com-

Calgary, Alberta, in 1951. In
the 16 years he was in Detroit,
nine new Bnai Brith Lodges were
formed and many new programs
instigated. Membership in Bnai
Brith grew from 5,000 to 8,000.
He has served as executive di-
rector of the Metropolitan De-
troit Bnai Brith Council and of
Michigan Council of Bnai Brith,
a member of the cabinet of the
Michigan Regional Advisory
Board of the Anti-Defamation
League of Bnai Brith, and the
executive committee of the Mich-
igan Board of Jewish National
Fund.
He is a member of the commu-
nity relations committee of the
Jewish Community Council, treas-
ure of the Bnai Brith Covenant
Credit Union and member of the
Michigan regional advisory board
of Bnai Brith Youth Organization.
Mr. and Mrs. Crystal have one
daughter. Mrs. Crystal is a past
president of Cong. Beth Abraham
Sisterhood and an active partici-
pant in the League of Jewish Wo-
men.
