Wednesday, 8-9:30 p.m., Solomon Schimmel. Conver- sational Hebrew will meet twice weekly, and the hours will be ar- ranged in consultation with the students. He is an exchange teacher from Israel and received his education at the Teachers' Seminary and the Uni- versity of Cologne. Germany. He was also a student of rabbinics at Cologne Yeshiva. In I s r a el, he taught at the Reali School. Rabbi Braverman, new UHS High School principal and registrar of the Midrasha, previously taught in Hebrew High schools in New York and at Yeshiva Uni- versity. He is completing his doc- toral dissertation in Bible. Prof. Marenof, dean of the Ma d r as h a, taught at Brandeis University before coming to De- troit. He has been with the Mid- rasha for the past 10 years and has taught Bible. Jewish history and Hebrew literature. Mrs. Klingman also is begin- ning her second year as an ex- change teacher from Israel. Mrs. Klingman teaches Israeli music and dancing for the Hebrew Schools. Courses are conducted in English and are contingent upon a mini- mum registration of 10 students. Classes meet in the Kasle High School—Midrasha Building. CJFWF Annual Parley in LA Nov. 16-20 The 35th General Assembly of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds will be held in Los Angeles, Nov. 16-20. Major sessions will deal with changing overseas needs and re- sponsibilities. Irving Kane of Cleve- land, CJFWF past president and chairman of the Council's Overseas Services dommittee, and Max M. A Dec. 21 wedding is planned. 42 Detroiters Join Survey Tour to Israel Oct. 10 Forty-two Detroit tourists will make up the 1966 Israel survey tour of the Detroit Service Group which leaves for overseas Monday. It is one of the largest contin- gents of local people to participate in an annual study tour of facil- ities and agencies aiding Jews overseas with funds raised by the Allied Jewish Campaign. Harvey Willens is chairman of the group, with Jerry Bielfield as co-chairman. Sol Dr a chler, as- sistant director of the Jewish Wel- fare Federation, will serve as tour director. The group will spend three days in Italy where they will visit at immigration centers and then fly on to Israel for a 12-day stay. The tour concludes Oct. 26. Some members of the group have planned an extended stay in Israel or countries in Europe while others will return immediately to Detroit.
