Detroit's travel agents are co-

in arrangements and in the pre-
sentation of the planned programs,
previously was director of the Tel
Aviv and the Israel southern

Tourist Office.
Born in Romania, Eyal immi-
grated to Israel after World War
II, became a member of a kibbutz
for about four years, joined the
Israeli army in 1951 and grad-
uated the school of officers, and
was promoted to the rank of cap-
tain in the paratroopers.
At the end of 1957, he left the
army to become a member of
the committee in charge of Israel's

NORM LEVIN

spent six weeks in Israel work-
ing on the farm settlement of
Mishmar David located between
Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Levin was taken into the com-
munity of 70 young boys and girls
ranging in age from 18 through 25.
He shared in the everyday life
of the kibbutz which meant lots
of hard work.
Mishmar David, like the other
farm communities in Israel, manu-
factures their own products and

then takes them to the cities for
sale.
Norm's daily role in the life
of the kibbutz began at sunrise.
He dug irrigation ditches, worked
in the apple and pear orchards,
and helped in the fields.
"One of the things I liked
best was learning how to drive
a tractor," said the former
Mumford prepster ..who cap-
tained the 1963 Mustang team.
Levin worked hard in the in-
tense heat and gained experience
that is paid off as Wayne State
held double sessions in the near-90
degree weather under head foot-
ball coach Vern Gale prior to
the first game. —
A much honored end who set
pass-receiving records in high
school, Levin was an All-City and
All-State selection. He continued
his fine play in his sophomore
year at Wayne leading the Tartars
scoring and receiving.
In WSU's opener, he caught six
passes for 157 yards and two
touchdowns. The touchdowns came
on plays of 71 and 20 yards. He
was one of the bright lights in
a 37-20 loss.
Levin feels that the work on
the kibbutz helped build up his
arms and legs, although he lost
15 pounds in the process. "Peo-
ple in Israel usually eat only
one meat a day, while supple-
menting their diet with eggs,
bread, and cheese," said the
Tartar end. "I'm mostly a meat
and potatoes man myself," he
continued.
Although he is glad to be 'back
in Detroit, Levin wants to go
back to Israel and stay for a
longer period of time. First, there
is the matter of helping Wayne
State to a winning season.

A feature of the second annual
Shaarey Zedek art exhibition and

which it was seen at the Detroit
Institute of Arts, nine of the 22
artists included were from the
Rina Gallery.
