Moishe Haar, Educational Director
of Sholem Aleichem Institute, Dead

Moishe Haar, Detroit educator
who taught Yiddish to three gen-
erations and served as educational
director of Sholem Aleichem In-
stitute for 35 years, died Monday
at age 68.
Mr. Haar, well known as a
lecturer as well as teacher, was
an authority on the Yiddish thea-
ter. He organized and directed the
Yiddish Children's Theater at the
Institute and was active in the
community's Yiddish secular move-
ment since he first came here 45
years ago. He was a native of
Poland.
At one time, Mr. Haar was
active in the Labor Zionist move-
men•, and he also counted among
