Mr. Rosenberg, 2531 Whiteleigh, Bloomfield Twp., was a life resi- dent of the Detroit area and be- longed to Temple Israel, Bnai Brith and the Detroit Men's Chap- ter of ORT (Organization for Re- habilitation Through Training). Survivors are his wife, Helen J.; a son, Martin J.; his mother, Mrs. Eva Rosenberg; two brothers, Abe and Sam; and a sister, Mrs. Dan- iel (Rose) Shapiro. IN MEMORIAM WASHINGTON, D. C. — Charles L. Ornstein, former president of the Hotel Association of New York City and a member of the board of directors of the National Jewish Welfare Board (JWB), died here Sept. 8 as the result of injuries from an automobile accident Sept. 4. Mr. Ornstein, 76, was general manager of the Willard Hotel, Washington, D.C., and vice presi- dent of the national chain of Ab- bell Hotels. As chairman of the JWB nation- al health and physical education committee, since its inception in 1943, Mr. Ornstein played a lead- ing role in the creation and ex- pansion of sports and recreational activities for Jewish Centers and YM-YWHAs throughout the world and was the chief spokesman for the Jewish Community on all mat- ters concerning amateur athletics. The U. S. Army designated Mr. Ornstein as its representative on the executive committee of the U. S. Olympic Committee. Mr. Ornstein played a leading role in the effort to prevent the partici- pation of the United States in the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936.
