The call, which was made public by Jacques Torczyner, president of the Zionist Organization of America, bears the signatures of rabbis belonging to the Orthodox, Conservative and Reform wings in communities of some 40 states, in- cluding the five boroughs of Great- er New York. Thus, . safeguarding of the security of i Israel and the cultural survival of the Jewish people as a whole con- stitute the two great tasks develop- ing upon the Zionist movement to- day." In their call, the rabbis further emphasize that "Zionism needs the resources and numerical strength of the world's largest and most af- fluent Jewish community to help the viability of the young State of Israel."
