group during the 40 years. Samuel
Summerfield was the first presi-
dent in 1926 and served until 1931.
Aaron DeRoy continued as presi-
dent until 1934.

Mrs. Joseph H. Ehrlich was
the only woman president and
served between 1934 and 1937.
She was succeeded by Gus D.
Newman who headed the group
for four years.
In 1941, Irving W. Blumberg
was elected and served until Har-
vey H. Goldman was named in
1949. Goldman was followed in
1951 by Milton K. Mahler, and in .
1957 by Jack 0. Lefton. The im-
mediate past president is Max M.
Shaye who served from 1961 until
Keil's election last year.
Esther R. Prussian of the Fed-
eration's staff has been director of
the group since its beginning.
