Bea Book Due Sept. 19
"The Church and the Jewish
People," by Augustin Cardinal Bea,
will be published by Harper & Row
Wednesday.
Cardinal Bea decries "the
atrocious anti-Semitism of our
century," and says it demands
decisive action. He was appointed
by Pone John XXIII to prepare for
the Ecumenical Council the draft
document on the Catholic attitude
toward the Jewish people, which
was passed by Vatican II in its
final session.
"The Declaration on the Jew-
ish People" condemns anti-Semit-
ism and seeks a solution on the
Biblical level. The text of the
declaration is included in this
book, with the author's detailed
commentary, and a discussion of
the practical issues that remain to
be solved.

Two Hungarian Soups
One often hears the expression
from "soup to nuts" indicating the
whole
gamut of gustatory pleasure.
.
The fact is that if you start a din-
ner with a good nourishing soup
you have won more than half the
battle. Brillat-Savarin, the French
gourmet, once remarked that a
woman who cannot cook good soup
ought not to be allowed to marry.
We need not go as far as that, for
one thing you probably are already
married and, if not, here are a
couple of recipes you can learn
easily—one hot and one cold de-
pending on which type of military
strategy one employs and thus wins
a man's heart.
