in Washington to
Open Season. Here

Detroit Chapter of Hadassah will
present Mrs. ( Raphael) Tourover,
its Washington representative and
liaison officer with U.S. govern-
ment agencies, at the opening meet-
ing 12:30 p.m. Sept. 6 in the Social
hall of Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Mrs. Tourover's subject will be
"Pursuit of Peace." A member of
Hadassah's national board since
1939, Mrs. Tour-
over holds an Llb

ton University
Law School, and
has been a mem-
ber of the Bar in f::@.

serving as Hadas-

Peace Council, organized under
the aegis of the Department of
State.
Because of her deep interest
in problems of immigration, she
has visited the European cen-
ters from which immigrants
come to Israel, as well as Haifa,
where immigrants arrive.
The White House presented Mrs.
Tourover with a certificate of ap-
preciation for services rendered on
the American Food for Peace Coun-
cil from May 1961 through De-
cember 1964.
Mrs. David Pollack, vice presi-
dent of fund raising, announces
that this will be the opening of
the 1966-67 Honor Roll Campaign.
Assisting Mrs. Pollack will be
honorary chairmen, Mrs. Joseph
Ehrlich - and Mrs. Henry Wineman;
special gifts chairman, Mrs. Sam
Shekter; adviser, Mrs. Davis Ben-
son; culminating ball chairman,
Mrs. Alfred Deutsch; general so-
licitation chairmen, Mrs. Richard
Kamil and Mrs. Sol Schwartz; and
treasury gifts chairman, Mrs, Ben-
jatnin Bond.
Group presidents and vice presi-
dents of Honor Roll will also assist
in the campaign.
Mrs. Henry Berris, program vice
president, and Mrs. Bennie Linden-
baum, social chairman, are in
charge of arrangements for the
meeting.
Mrs. Jack Perlman, chapter pres-
ident, invites all Hadassah mem-
bers and friends. Coffee and cake
will be served.

Chaplain Gets High Army Position

Chaplain Joseph B. Messing, for-
merly deputy to the Fourth Army
Chaplain and recipient of a num-
ber of commendation medals and
citations, has assumed the posi-
tion of director of administration
and management in the Office of
the Chief of Chaplains, Depart-
ment of the Army.
Rabbi Selwyn D. Ruslander,
chairman of the commission on
Jewish chaplaincy of the National
Jewish Welfare Board and spiri-
tual leader of Temple Israel, Day-
ton, 0., said this marks the first
time in 15 years that a Jewish
chaplain has occupied a post in
the Chief's office.

UNIVERSITY SOUTH GROUP,
Hadassah, will hold a smorgasbord
luncheon 12:15 p.m. Monday in
Hadassah House. A panel discus-
sion will follow. Participants will
be Mesdames Harry Agen, Maurice
M. Perlman, Louis Rochman, Al-
fred Rosen and Lawrence Wember.
