HOLLYWOOD - Jerry L e w i s
acts as an American weathernaut
of the 1994 variety in his first 20th
Century-Fox picture, "Way . . .
W a y Out," written by William
Bowers and Laslo Vadnay and di-
rected by Gordon Douglas. The
CinemaScope c o l o r space - age
farce shows Jerry as a 1 u nar-
project trainee who is selected for
the weather station on the moon.
Since a Russian woman (portrayed
by Anita Ekberg) manning the
Soviet weather station allegedly
had been attacked by an Ameri-
can male, the next lunar astronaut
from the U.S. has to be accom-
panied by a properly qualified fe-
male astronomer, preferably his
wife. in order to maintain the sex-
ual equilibrium within the newly
developed out-of-space settlement.
Jerry Lewis finds such a bright.
brainy and cooperative companion
in Connie Stevens, on the screen
a blondish fairy-tale scientist of
the weaker sex who journeys with
her new mate straight to the moon,
one of the lesser known resorts for

honeymooners 28 years from now.
Dick Shawn essays the role of
the jealous Russian weathernaut
stationed at the moon who almost
creates World War III after an
overdose of "Instant Vodka" stim-
ulates his hostility towards his
U.S. rival, Jerry. At the end, a
telephone discussion between
Washington and the Kremlin on
the "hot line" clears • up all mis-
understandings about the lunar
station and its mortal residents of
the opposite sexes.
Involved in the mad-cap shenan-
igans are also Robert Morley, as
head of "United States Weather
Bureau, Lunar Division," Cape
Kennedy; and Brian Keith as Gen-
eral "Howling Bull" Hallenby who
directs our armed forces.
While "Way . . . Way Out" pro-
jects a world gone crazy, it also
assures us that we have nothing
to worry about - till 1994.
