THE HAGUE — Gadna, the Is-
raeli youth -.orchestra, became the
permanent owner Wednesday of
the "Golden Lyre," a prize offered
by Queen Juliana of the Nether-
lands to the musical group that
has won the title of "general win-
ner" three successive times in the
World Music Concourse.
The National Youth Orchestra
of Tel Aviv was pronounced gen-
eral winner of the fifth annual
concourse, completed Tuesday
night at Kerkrade, Holland. The
event is held every four years.

Editor, The Jewish News:
May I commend you on your
editorial "U.S. Jewry's Teaching
Shortage Problem" which appeared
in the July 22 issue of The Jewish
News. In my opinion, the most
important statement in Dr. Alvin
Schiff's paper on "Teacher Re-
cruitment and Training Programs"
was the following elementary point:
"Why is there a shortage of
trained teachers? . . . First, there
is a shortage of inspired young
people in the Hebrew high schools.
