The 146 U.S. and Canadian col- lege students taking part in the program will work six hours daily in all branches of the kibbutz ag- ricultural economy — from truck farming to tending sheep. They also will study Hebrew and other :-objects and tour the country dur- ing the 10 weeks of their stay. CHARLES NIDA Nancy Sue Paull and Charles Howard Nida were united in mar- riage in a recent ceremony at Adas Shalom Synagogue. Rabbi Jacob Segal and Cantor Nicholas Fenakel officiated. Parents of the couple are Mr. Harry Paull of Westhampton Rd., Southfield, and the late Mrs. Freda Paull, and Mrs. Russell S. Nida of La Garonne Rd., Southfield, and the late Mr. Nida. The bride wore a gown of silk organza with a bodice of Alencon lace. She wore an organza head- piece with a short veil and car- ried roses, Stephanotis and cascades of ivy. Mrs. Michael Paull, sister-hi-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Paul Nida, Patricia Sokoloff and Joy Zeff. Best man was Paul Nida, brother of the bridegroom. Stuart Bord- man, Edward Lansky, Donald Moses and Michael Paull served as ushers. The couple will make their home in Cambridge, Mass. Israel's Philatelic Service will issue a new series of festival stamps, depicting Jewish ritual art objects, next month. The long, narrow stamps are multicolored, gold and silver and come in a series of five denominations, totaling 1.87 pounds (62 cents.) Two Detroiters Enter U. S. Chaplaincy Two local graduates of the Jew- ish Theological Seminary have entered the U.S. Armed Forces in time to officiate at Rosh Ha- shanah services for Jewish mil- itary personnel, Sept. 14-16. They are Chaplains Clifford B. Miller, who will be stationed at Shepard Air Force Base, Texas; and Sheldon M. Kirsch, who has entered the Navy but will be serving at the Marine Corps Re- cruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. A total of 12 new Jewish mil- itary chaplains were named by the National Jewish Welfare Board Commission on Jewish Chaplaincy. They will replace those chap- lains who have completed their tours of duty and have been re- leased from active service. Full- time military and Veterans Admin- istrative Jewish chaplains current_ ly number 72. There also are more than 250 civilian rabbis currently serving as part-time chaplains. Six of the new chaplains have gone into the Army; three in the Ex-Detroiter Selman Finds Wide Audience for Paintings in Israel Former Detroiter Sol Selman treated the school children of Ash- kelon, Israel, to a look at "The Vanished Shtetl of Eastern Eur- ope" at an exhibition of his oil paintings in the Afridar Museum. Selman, a resi- dent of the De- troit area 52 years, settled in Ashkelon, where he set up a stu- dio. The mayor of the city, Re- havia Adivi, ad- dressed the open- ing of the exhi- bit, attended by 150 persons, in- cluding a number Selman of school chil- dren brought by the board of edu- cation. His exhibit was reviewed extensively in Israel's daily papers. The show, under the .auspices of Histadrut, was held over for two weeks, at the request of the mus- eum.
