Key Organizations, Leaders Endorse
Shevitz for Recorder's Court Post

Labor organizations, business
leaders, fellow attorneys and poli-
tical groups are boosting the can-
didacy of Sidney M. Shevitz for
nomination as Recorder's Court
judge.
Shevitz' program to "humanize",
the court and his efforts in human
relations have won him a spot on
the Wayne County AFL-CIO slate
for the Aug. 2 primary.
He was rated "well qualified"
by the Detroit Bar Association's
advisory committee.
Democratic organizations in De-

troit's five congressional districts
—1st, 13th, 14th, 16th and 17th—
have endorsed the veteran attor-
ney.
Prominent Detroiters who have
pledged their personal support in-
clude State Supreme Court Jus-
tice Theodore Souris; Richard E.
Cross, former chairman of Ameri-
can Motors Corp.; Rev. Canon Mal-
colm G. Dade; Detroit industrial-
ist, Max M. Fisher; former Detroit
Common Councilman William T.
Patrick, Jr.; and civil leaders Roy
Reuther and Horace Sheffield.

Stanczyk Seeks Office
as Circuit Court Judge

Common Pleas Court Judge Ben-
jamin C. Stanczyk, 51, is a candi-
date in the Aug. 2 primary for one
of the newly cre-
ated Circuit Court
judgeships for a
six-year term.
He has been a
common pleas
judge for nine
years and was a
practicing attor-
ney and member
of the staff of the
Wayne County
prosecutor before his appointment
as judge by Gov. G. Mennen 'Wil-
liams in 1957. He was a 1939 grad-
uate of the University of Michigan's
law school.
Judge Stanczyk has served on
several study committees in con-
nection with the Detroit Public
Schools and as president. of the
Cass Association for Cass Techni-
cal High School during the years
1963-65.

vote for John E. Lama in his bid
to win the Democratic nomination
for State Senator from Detroit's
7th Senatorial District. Lama is
seeking to unseat Democrat D.
Dzendzel, the Senate majority lead-
er.
"Lama," the endorsement says,
"with • an impressive academic
background and a constructive ap-
proach to state problems, gets our
vote."
