Journalist Dies in London
LONDON (JTA) — Bernard Sin-
ger, prominent Jewish journalist
and author, died here at age 73.
He was a leading political com-
mentator for Jewish papers in
Poland until the outbreak of the
Second World War. He emigrated
to England in 1944 and served
until his death on the staff of
the Economist.
Attorney Charles M. Weingarden,
who had offices for 14 years in
the Cadillac Tower, died June 30
at age 56.
Mr. Weingarden, 18211 . Santa
Barbara, was born in New York
and lived in Detroit 53 years. He
was a graduate of the Detroit
College of Law in 1931.
A member of Adas Shalom
Synagogue, he also belonged to
Downtown-Fox Lodge of Bnai
Brith, Crescent Shrine Club,
Mosaic Lodge F&AM and the
Michigan State Bar Association.
Mr. Weingarden leaves his wife,
Shirley; two daughters, Mrs.
Eugene (Sandra) Nabat and Renee•
his mother, Mrs. Mary Weingarden;
five brothers, Harry, Morris, Na-
than, Louis and Sidney of Pitts-
burgh; a sister, Celia; and two
grandchildren.
