ish citizens do not require entry
visas to Israel, an Israeli wishing,
to visit the queen's country encoun-
ters great difficulties in obtaining
the necessary papers, the Associa-

response.

Woodward Ave. at

HOA KOW INN

The Best of Everything

By Danny Raskin

A NAME HAS been chosen for
the Detroit Tent of Circus Saints
& Sinners . . . It'll be known as
the Jack E. Leonard Tent, honor-
ing the first major guest star to
appear at a Saints & Sinners meet-
ing . . . Jack E. was appearing at
the Act IV, and came over to give
the fellows some of his barbed
comic routine plus acting as one
of the jesters in the "roasting"
proceedings . . . Being a member
of the Circus Saints & Sinners,
Jack E. as a hatchet man has left
longer lasting scars than Zorro

LOVE OF GOOD Mexican food
brings businessmen and beatniks
alike to the Mexican Gardens base-
ment hideaway just off Woodward
at 25 W. Columbia . . . Mexican
specialties are spicy but mild
enough not to frighten first-timers
. . . Those who prefer to watch
can choose from the American
menu . . . We've always found that
the best way to enjoy Mexican
food is to let someone who knows
what's what do the ordering . . .
If none is available in your party,
don't be ashamed to let the waiter
help you.

DETROIT'S TOP JAZZ spot is
right in the northwest area . . .
Baker's Keyboard Lounge on Liv-
ernois near Eight Mile brings them
all in . . . and great jazz names
appear regularly attracting jazz
lovers for miles around . . . Solas
and Faye Hartstein have been do-
ing a magnificent job in furthering
the great reputation it has . .
Jazz lovers from out-of-town don't
ask, "Where's a good jazz place?"
. .. Their question is usually,
"Who's at Baker's?"

party was held in Oak Park for
Norman Folke last week ... It was
a Poolside Party, for about 40
couples, and wife Eleanor had de-
licious submarine sandwiches of all
varieties delivered from the Super
Sub Shop on W. '7 Mile Rd. . .
This is listed as the first party of
its kind in the local area . . . Out
east, around Atlantic City espe-
cially, poolside parties with sub-
marine sandwiches are a big thing
. In catering the party, the Super
Sub Shop did it with half subs and
whole subs, with an interesting
mixture to please every palate .. .
The Super Sub Shop, a block and a
half west of Evergreen, is Detroit
and suburb's only authentic sub-
marine sandwich shop and getting
better all the time, if that's pos-
sible!

IF YOU WANT Charlie Dubin
to play your request at Darbys,
don't ask the fine pianist to play
it for you! . . . Sounds crazy, but
that's the way he is . . . Just make
mention that it's a favorite of
yours and Charlie will get around
to playing it for you in his own
inimitable manner ... Don't call it
temperament .. . Artistic is more
the word for Charlie ... And when
he feels like it, Charlie's keyboard
styling from the heart is exception-
ally pleasing to the ear . . . Any
pianist can use his fingers, but
without the feeling behind it, the
music is just an empty shell.

NEW RESTAURANT on the lo-
cal scene is Chin-Tiki, 2121 Cass
. . . Beautiful atmosphere plus
Polynesian cocktails and food make
for a much sought-after spot to hit
Detroit ... Exotic dishes and "out-
* *
UNIQUE SURPRISE birthday of-this-world" appetizers are what
many folks have been seeking.
Now they have it in Chin-Tiki, the
only restaurant of its kind here,
which will be great news to guys
'n gals whose epicurean appetites
have had to take them to other
cities for what they can now have
11 1/2 Mile Road
in Detroit.

Arquette—who
