Building Planned to House Merged Agencies,
Vocational Service, Community Workshop

William M. Wetsman was elected
president of the newly merged
Jewish Vocational S e r v i c e and
Community Workshop at the agen-
cy's annual meeting June 21 at
the Standard-City Club.
Plans for a new building to house
the Vocational Service and Com-
munity Workshop were displayed
at the meeting. This proposed
building will allow the agencies to
expand its job placement, counsel-
ing and rehabilitation programs.
The United Foundation has already
allocated $30,000 from its capitol
fund drive for the purchasing of
land.
The boards of the two agencies
which were headed by Paul
Broder, president, Jewish Voca-
tional Service, and Ronald L.
Greenberg, president of the Com-
munity Workshop, voted the
merger in order to effect more
efficient operation. The agency
is a member of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation and supported
through the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign. The executive director is
Albert Cohen.
Mrs. Sandor Hillman, head of
Master Drapery Services, 14832
Schaefer, was given an award as
"Employer of the Year" for that
firm's special cooperation in hiring
workers with particular employ-
ment problems.
Herbert Gale, of the Rol-Brush
Manufacturing Co., 12051 Wood-
bine, was presented with an award
as "Contractor of the Year" for
his arrangement of a sub-contract
to the Community Workshop for
the preliminary assembling of paint
roller frames. This contract pro-
vided work for disabled, employes
and was instrumental in further-
ing their rehabilitation.
