Mrs. Bloom Given Torch Drive Post

Mrs. Leslie Bloom has been
named Region Chairman 22 for the
1966 Torch Drive, Mrs. L. Hudson
Rosenthal, Central Wayne County
residential chairman announced.
Mrs. Bloom will be in charge of
training and solicitation efforts of
women volunteers in her region.
Besides her Torch Drive activi-
ties, Mrs. Bloom is active in the
Temple Beth El Sisterhood, Wom-
en's City Club, Founders Society
of the Detroit Institute of Arts, Mu-
sic Study Club, Mount Sinai Hos-
pital Guild, Brandeis Society, Na-
tional Council of Jewish Women
and Hadassah.
Mrs. Bloom and her husband, an
attorney, live at 20065 Shrewsbury

They have two children, Dr. Stu-

Helen Louise, to Dr. A. Martin
Lerner in the chapel of Temple
Israel. Rabbi Leon Fram per-
formed the ceremony. Dr. Lerner,
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard
Lerner of Clayton, Mo., heads the
section of infectious diseases at
Wayne State University's School of
Medicine and Detroit General Hos-
pital.

Soak beans in cold water to cover

hour. Heat fat in pan and brown meat
cut in chunks. When browned all over,
remove. Add more fat if necessary and
brown onions diced, add garlic minced
and remove from skillet. Smear casse-
role with fat, add layer of beans, layer
onions and garlic, layer of meat and
repeat until casserole filled. Add tomato
sauce, water mixed with salt, pepper,
parsley and marjoram to top of beans
which should be top layer of casserole.
Cover and bake in 350 degree oven
about two hours.
Lamb Stew
2 lbs. lamb shoulder, neck or breast
cut into service pieces or chunks
1 onion sliced
1 clove garlic
2 tablespoons fat
1 cup diced celery
1 cup tomato sauce
1 cup water
bay leaf
salt and pepper to taste
4 medium potatoes quartered
1 cup mushrooms quartered
1 cup raw carrots cut in chunks
3/4 cup peas
1 /4 cup chopped parsley
