Council of Jewish Women, at a
three-day e x e c u t i v e committee
meeting, has called upon the U.S.
government to seek every possible
avenue toward negotiations for a
cease fire in Vietnam.
In its Vietnam statement, the
committee, representing 123,000
Jewish women in this c o u n t r y,
urged a three-pronged policy on
the part of the U.S. government:
"To continue to explore unre-
mittingly, with patient flexibility,
every possible avenue including
channels of the United Nations that
may create more favorable circum-
stances under which negotiations
can begin and a cease fire be ef-
fected.
"To resist all pressure to widen
or escalate the war.

Mesdames (from left) Eli Benstein, Jacob E. Segal and Jerome
Schostak, three mothers of Hillel Day School students, have under-
gone intensive training to qualify for a certificate as discussion lead-
ers of the new enrichment program to begin at Hillel this fall. The
program, Junior Great Books, will be offered to fifth and sixth-grade
pupils who are good readers and who are interested in discussing
great ideas with one another. They will meet once every three weeks
for 11/2 hours following school dismissal. The three women, trained
by staff members of the Great Book Foundation, will guide rather
than teach at each session.
