Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Solomon, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Scott and Mrs. Janet D. Lynn, who spearheaded the organizational effort, stated that the invitation to membership, which already includes 30 faniilies, is not intended to pirate members from other existing congregations and that the formation of the new temple is, they are convinced, a result of a need felt by the new congregants for a plaCe of worship based on "mutuality of interests." "There has been no "raiding of other temples" Mrs. Lynn said. She said some of the congregants may c-ome from other congregations, but their number is minimal and they are not enrolling , as dis- sidents. Tucker Will Conduct Services in Chicago A meeting of the charter mem- bers and. those interested in join- ing will be held at the Unitarian Church, North Woodward and ',One Pine, at 8 p.m..June 29. The possibility is that the new tem- ple's services will be held in this church. , Those desiring information may call Mrs. Solomon or Mrs. Scott at 353-3353 or MA 6-1686, respec- tively. Although the organizing group has not yet asked for a charter, The Jewish News was informed that the new temple will be eligible for membership in the Union of Ameri- can Hebrew Congregations. There is the possibility that Rabbi Ernst J. Conrad may be- come the rabbi of the new con- gregation, but no definite ar- rangements have been made re- garding the occupant of the new pulpit, and the congregation has not as yet extended such an in- vitation to the rabbi, who is leav- ing Pontiac's Cong. Beth Jacob. It was explained that Rabbi Conrad "still has contractural obligations to his temple," but that "it would be an honor for us to have him serve us." .
