Yemenite Jew Honors
Memory of Zionist Leader
He Saw in a Dream

JERUSLAM- (ZINS) — The fol-
lowing extraordinary story was
related during a reception tendered
by President Zalman Shazar in
honor of the poet Aaron Zeitlin:
According to the local press,
after the death of the venerable
American Zionist leader, Dr. Abba
Hillel Silver, an aged Yemenite
Jew, a resident of a village adja-
cent to the Kfar Silver Agricultural
Training Institute (established and
directed by the ZOA), came to
Kfar Silver and reported that he
had been visited in a dream by a
man who identified himself as
Abba Hillel and requested him to
go to the school to recite Kaddish
and learn mishnayot in his memory.
The Yemenite is alleged never
to have seen Dr. Silver and was not
even aware of his name. When he
saw a photograph of Dr. Silver
on display in Kfar Silver he ex-
claimed, "That is the very Jew
who came to me in my dream!"
Furthermore, the Yemenite said
that in the dream he was asked
to approach a man named Zvi, and
it turned out that Zvi is the name
of the director of Kfar Silver.
Until this very day the man
faithfully comes daily to the school
synagogue to learn mishnayot. He
refuses to accept any money for
his prayers, explaining: "God for-
bid I should receive any payment
for performing a mitzvah which I
was asked to do from above."

Tunisian Paper Sees
Israel as A-Power,
Fears -Eventual Crisis

TUNIS (ZINS) — The Tunisian
paper Jeune Afrique asserts that
"Israel is already in possession of
8 kilograms of piutonium, enabling
her to become by 1967—or at the
latest 1968—the first atomic power
ill the Middle East.
The newspaper adds that in the
face of this danger, Abdel Nasser
is prepared to permit Soviet Russia
to establish missile bases on the
Red Sea and the Mediterranean.
"It is obvious that the United
States would oppose such a step,
which might precipitate a new
`Cuban crisis' in the Near East
Nasser—explains the paper—is
not really worried about the mili-
tary implications of Israel's pos-
session of the bomb; he is fully
aware that an atomic attack on
Egypt by Israel does not come
into consideration. "If a power as
great as the United States refrains
from using the weapon in Vietnam,
assuredly little Israel will not take
such an initiative."
However, Jeune Afrique states
that Nasser is convinced that
Israel's possession of the bomb
may very well cause great and ir-
reparable damage to his own pres-
tige and influence, both in the
Arab sphere and to the regime
in Egypt itself.

Moscow 'Amity' to Israel
Looks Less Than Amiable

LONDON (ZINS) — Israel's for-
eign ministry, which prematurely
voiced optimistic forecast relating
to Abba Eban's trip to Poland, is
now hard-pressed to explain the
latest events on the wake of the
predicted favorable turning point
in Israel-Soviet relations.
The man-in-the-street, unfamiliar
with the delicate nuances of di-
plomacy, was astonished to read
Moscow's sharp warning to Israel
against "meddling" in Syrian af-
fairs and is unable to decipher the
"friendly" overtones of this mes-
sage.
Israeli officialdom is trying to
gloss over the matter by declar-
ing that they do not ..take the So-
viet note seriously.

TEL AVIV—Police had to be

NEW YORK — The American
Jewish Congress called for "full-
scale reconsideration and review"
of all recent federal and state
legislation providing public aid
to church-connected schools in the
light of a decision by the Mary-
land Court of Appeals invalidating
grants of tax-raised funds to three
denominational colleges.
Howard M. Squadron, a vice
president of the congress . and
chairman of its national commis-
sion on law and social action, said
that under the Higher Education
Facilities Act, the federal gov-
ernment was now spending "tax-
raised funds for construction of
laboratories, dormitories, class-
rooms and other facilities at re-
ligiously-affiliated colleges."
