Susan Foster Wins
Woody Scholarship

Susan Foster, 14862 Appoline,
a Cooley High School senior, has
been designated as the 1966 win-
ner of the Woody Pontiac Scholar-
ship Award, presented by Wood-
row W. Wood.
Susan was chosen for the schol-
arship by Rabbi Leon Fram of
Temple Israel, the congregation of
which she is a member. Picked
primarily for her musical ability,
Susan will be enabled to take in-
tensive lessons in singing, as well
as attend college.
Recipient of a scholarship from
the Music Study club, Susan plans
to enter Wayne State University
in the fall.
She has appeared with the De-
troit Theater Guild and perform-

Israeli Panel on Youth

sermons of the day, a dialogue
on the theme, "Jewish Learning
—the Foundation for a Jewish
Future in America."
Rabbi Benjamin H. Gorrelick
will conduct the service and offer
a charge to the graduates. Cantor
Moses Serensen will chant the
prayers. Following the service, the
parents of the graduates and the
Beth Aaron PTO will serve a
kiddush in their honor.

The University and Professional
Chapter of the American Jewish
Congress will hear an Israeli panel
discuss "Israeli Young Adults" 1:30
p.m. Sunday at the home of Gay
Rothenberg, 28805 Brooks Lane,
Southfield.

The University of Michigan re-
cently held its honors convocation
for students who received class
honor, an academic average of 3.5
and above, and for those who earn-
ed an A or "four point" record for
two consecutive terms or more. On

from Southfield participated in the

ope as a part of the Foreign Lan-
guage League program.
The 13th annual commencement
exercises of SHS for the class of
1966 will be held at 8 p.m. June
8 in the school gymnasium. The
guest speaker will be Dr. Alfred
W. Storey, of the University of
Michigan.
Southfield School records in golf
fell last week as the Blue Jay golf
team downed Northville, 198-225.
Sophomore Bob Scheuer paced the
scoring with a one-under-par 34,
new nine-hole low for the school.
The old record was 35 by Rick
Johns in 1964.
