At a recent candlelight ceremony,
Peggy Gross and Peter Gidion were
united in marriage at Temple Beth
El. Dr. Richard Hertz officiated.
Lansing, Pontiac Communities Plan
Events Honoring Israel's Statehood
Lew Norman, actor, producer
and director, will appear at Lan-
sing's Cong. Shaarey Zedek, for
the Israel 18th anniversary cele-
bration Sunday evening.
The celebration is being spon-
sored by the Greater Lansing Corn-
mittee for State of Israel Bonds.
Chairman is Harvey S. Steadman,
co-chairman, George M. Kessler.
The committee consists of Martin
Gal, Sydney D. Goodman, Dr. Jo-
seph Jacobs, Dr. David Kahn, Fred
Newman and Herbert Rubenstein.
Norman has appeared in almost
every phase of show business on
television network programs, at
Carnegie and Town Halls, Gross-
inger's and the Concord Hotel.
A veteran of the Yiddish Art
Theater, Norman won the Show

The bride wore an Empire gown
of candlelight silk organza with
deep borders of imported Alencon
lace on the sleeves and on the hem
of the A-line skirt. The full wat-
teau train was edged with lace and
fell to chapel length. She wore a
matching lace mantilla and carried
sweetheart roses and lilies of the
valley on her confirmation Bible.
Janice Gross was her sister's
maid of honor, and the brides-
maids were Carol Eisenberg, Jill
Gaynes and Gerrianne Stein.
Jody and Wendy Kaplan were
flower girls.
The bridegroom asked Gerald
Carrick to be best man; Howard
Bennett, Philip Ober and Charles
Schubiner seated the guests.
After a wedding trip to Miami
Beach and Nassau, the couple is
living on Schaefer Rd.

learned to act at the Henry Street
Settlement. He studied theater
technique there under Orson Wel-
les, Elia Kazan and the late Clif-
ford Odets.

to Israel.

The Detroit Federation of Teach-
ers is asking for the first two
days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom
Kippur as paid holidays as part of
its demands in the current negoti-
ating sessions with the Detroit
