Among the Cass scholars are: Dwight Alpert, Jennifer Bell, David Black, Allen Carroll, Jay Daitch, Mina Drechsler, James Feld, Helene Freedman, Kenneth Gilbert, Howard Goldman, Arlene Gorelick, Anita Handelman, Ed- ward Nord, Nancy Pollock, Robert Rosen, Irving Rosenstein, Alvin Sallen,_ Howard Schreier, Donald Skupsky, Charles Soberman, Robert Stulberg, Arthur Waldman, Bruce Weinberg, Jacob Weintraub, David Wellin, Kenneth Gilbert has been select- ed as the Detroit Regional Scholar of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, class of 1970. Each year, one MIT applicant from the Detroit area receives this scholar- ship. Chosen by a committee of local MIT alumni, Kenneth is one of 25 regional scholars from around the nation. David Budson, principal cellist of the Cass Symphony, has signed a full-year contract with the De- troit Symphony Orchestra. He will join the symphony this summer for the annual Meadowbrook Fes- tival. David recently performed the Khatchaturian Cello Concerto with the Cass Symphony. Clarinetist Norman Levin has been awarded the Pro Mozart So- ciety Scholarship for summer study at the Mozarteum Festival in Saltz_ burg, Austria. Norman will be playing in the Mozartium festival orchestra. Clark Feldman, concertmaster of the. Cass Symphony, recently re- ceived the Zerounian String Award. Competing with high school string students from the Metropolitan Detroit area, Clark won the $200 first-place award.. Edward Nord, pianist, won the senior division first-place of the Grinnell Award. To culminate three years of in- tensive training, the seniors of the art department will present an exhibition of their work in collaboration with Winkelman's. Over 300 pieces will be displayed at Winkelman's downtown store, between June 1 and June 10.
