The Crown Ball, to be held at Knollwood Country Club 9 p.m. May 14, will celebrate another successful year of fund raising for South Oakland County Chapter of Hadassah. Invited to this event are mem- bers who have made it possible for SOC Chapter to fulfill commitments to Hadassah projects in Israel through their efforts and personal contributions of $50 or more per couple during the past year. Mrs. Leo Shipko, ball chair- man, said there will be dancing to the music of Leonard Stanley and his orchestra, and entertain- ment with comedian Karrel Fox. A midnight buffet supper will be served. Luncheon Thursday Members and volunteers for the annual tag-day fund drive of City of Hope, Detroit Cancer Fighters, will converge upon greater Detroit Monday and throughout the sub- urban areas Tuesday. Proceeds will help support the City of Hope's program of expan- sion in patient care, research and education at the free, non-sectori- an medical hospital and labora- tories. The City of Hope is pioneering new concepts in the care of strick- en children. Mrs. Charles Young, vice president of fund-rasing, an- nounced a major project in the pilot medical center's $10 million program of expansion — the con- struction of new, enlarged pediatric facilities, including a special sec- tion for teen-agers. The City' of Hope's parent par- ticipation program, which has served as a pilot for similar pro- grams in hospitals throughout the nation, trains parents to as- sist in the daily care of their fatally-ill children.
