▪ • • THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS 18—Friday, May 6, 1966 National Young Israel to Help Set Up Mar Rotenberg Village Near Haifa The National Council of Young Israel has announced it will join forces with the Detroit Friends of Kfar Rotenberg to establish a new village near Haifa, Israel. This participation was undertaken through the initiative of Rabbi Samuel H. Prero, spiritual leader of Northwest Young Israel and president of the Metropolitan De- troit Council. The announcement was made at a breakfast meeting Sunday, at Imperial Kosher Restaurant b y Norman Allan, general chairman of the Kfar Ro- tenberg Dinner, which will take place on May 29 at the Statler Hilton Hotel. Kf a r Roten- berg is being named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Rabbi Prero Julius Rotenberg, patrons of Jew- ish education and benefactors of many Israeli causes. Rotenberg, born in 1892 into a Hassidic family, came to Detroit in 1914 and 18 years later founded Chabad the General Mill Supply Co. He is a member of the board of trustees of Cong. Bnai David and was one of the first supporters of Sinai Hos- pital. He actively supports the Council of Orthodox Rabbis, Beth Yehudah Schools, Yeshiva Chach- mey Lublin Yeshivat Hadorom in Israel, State of Israel Bonds, Allied Jewish Campaign and the Luba- vitcher movement. Mrs. Rotenberg was born in Tolianovke, near Lutsk, Russia.
