R. AND MRS. HUBB,NRD'S 16-year-old daughter was
out at her first dinner dance, and when her escort hadn't
brought her home by 11 p.m., they were frantic, They knew

the dance was being host-
ed by a lady named Jones,
but there were 14 Joneses
listed in the phone book
so they scarcely knew
where to begin. They
chose one Jones at ran-
dom and dialed the num-
ber. A lady answered.
"Pardon me," said Mrs.
Hubbard, "but might you
be the Mrs. Jones who is
giving a party this even-
ing for teen-agers?" "I am
not," was the decisive
reply. "I am the Mrs.
Jones who was taking a
bath two flights up when you called."

from the People's Republic of Bul-
garia has assured the American
Jewish Committee that rumors of
the planned uprooting of a Jew-
ish cemetary in Sofia are com-

A telegram by Morris B. Abram,
AJC president, went to Dr. Luben
Guerassimov, Bulgarian Ambas-
sador to the U.S., explaining that
the reports had alarmed the Com-
mittee "as a voluntary agency
dedicated to the protection of the
rights of Jews and all minorities
throughout the • world." The mes-
sage praised Bulgaria's role in
protecting its Jewish citizens dur-
ing the Nazi period, then termed
the reported cemetery desecrations
"a tragic irony of history."
A meeting was held shortly after
this between Dr. Guerassimov and
