He will succeed Dr. Solomon Grayzel, who is retiring after 2'7 years in that chair. Dr. Potok's election will become official Sunday at the 78th annual meeting of JPS at Warwick Hotel, Philadelphia. The new editor, a native of New YOrk, author, editor and educator, has been training for the world's top editorial job in Jewish litera- ture under Dr. Grayzel. Dr. Potok was graduated from Yeshivah University in 1950 with a BA summa cum laude in En- glish literature. He received rab- binic ordination in 1954 from the Jewish Theological Seminary. For nine years he served as na- tional director of the Leaders Training Fellowship and then en- tered the U. S. Army as a Chaplain. He served in Korea for 16 months, mainly with a medical batallion and a front line combat engineer unit. He served as Director of Camp Ramah in California from 1957 to 1959, simultaneously serving on the faculty of the University of Juda- ism in Los Angeles. For four years he was scholar-in-residence at Har Zion Temple, Philadelphia, then spent a year in Israel completing his doctorate in philosophy.
