when Producer Julie Blaustein
came to Cairo to film "Khartoum"
an official suspiciously asked:
"What do you want to do here?",
Blaustein: "Spend about seven
million dollars."

Glenn Miller Orchestra to Play for Sunday Dance
The weekly Sunday evening
dance held at the Veterans Me-
orial Building will this weekend
feature the famous Glenn Miller
Orchestra.
Sponsored for the past 13 years
by the Allied Veterans Council of
Michigan, the Sunday evening
dances raise funds for gifts to
veterans hospitals and Council ex-
penses.
While the Miller orchestra is

`The Visitors,'
Sid Caesar has been signed by
William Castle to star in "The
Visitors," Ben Starr's adaptation
of the Nathaniel Benchley novel.
It will be Caesar's first movie
since "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad
World" in 1963. A modern ghost
story, "The Visitors" is slated for
a late April start at Paramount
studios.

Shelley Winters in 'Alfie'
Shelley Winters is co-starring
with "Iperess File's" Michael Caine
in "Alfie," a brisk, b r ash and
bawdy move, from the play by Bill
Naughton with Lew Gilbert as
writer - director. "A 1 f i e" world-
premiered in London last week to
an enthusiastic audience.

`A Space Odyssey'
Stanley Kubrick of "Spartacus"
fame is producing and directing
in London, "A Space Odyssey,"
for MGM with Robert Beatty and
Keir Dullea.

"The Singing Nun," starring
Debbie Reynolds in the title role,
and co-starring Ricardo Montalban,
Agnes Moorehead and Chad Ev-
erett goes into a third week at the
Michigan Theater. Katharine Ross,
Ed Sullivan, Juanita Moore and
Greer Garson are also starred.
Short subjects completes the Mich-
igan's program.

Commandements" filmed in Tech-
nicolor with an all-star cast, goes
into its third week at the Palms
Theater. The film is scheduled for
a limited engagement with contin-
uous performances each day com-
mencing at noon, 4:15 p.m.- and
6:430 p.m.

BOSTON (JTA)—A testimonial
plaque honoring The Jewish Ad-
vocate, Boston weekly, was pre-
sented at April 8 services at
Temple Beth Hillel, Mattapan, by
Samuel. Slavet, president of the
temple, to Joseph G. Weisberg, co-
publisher and executive editor of
the paper. Erwin D.. Canham, edi-
tor of the Christian Science Moni-
tor, in a special sermon, praised
the Jewish Advocate as an out-
standing ethnic publication.
