Young Hitchhiker Held in Death of Albert Smith; Florence Winn Dies; Father-in-Law Sidney Tauber Dies Same Night Social Worker Staff of Southfield businessman Albert S. Smith was stabbed to death March 25, apparently by a hitch- hiking sailor heading home on leave. Mr. Smith, 43, of 22572 Bellwood, was murdered in what police said was an attempted rob- bery by Seaman Barrie S. Moody Friday night. Mr. Smith, who worked for Dan- iel Silverman and Co. and was treasurer of Dansco Associates, two food brokerage and promo- tonal firms, also headed the Smith Scrap Metal Co. It marked a double tragedy for his wife Roslyn, whose father, Sid- ney Tauber, 67, died a few hours later while trying to comfort Mrs. Smith.
