Bride, Helaine Sobol

MRS. ROBERT TARNOPOL

In a recent ceremony, Helaine
Marilyn Sobol, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Nate Sobol of Pennsylvania
Ave., Southfield, was married to
Robert Jay Tarnopol, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Tarnopol of Dart-
mouth Ave., Oak Park. The cere-
mony was performed by Rabbi
Benjamin Gorrelick at • the Hotel
Pontchartrain.
The bride wore a gown of silk
organza over taffeta, with a Sabrina
neckline, Empire bodice and elbow-
length sleeves. The floor-length
tiered skirt was appliqued in gar-
lands of hand-run Alencon lace,
and featured a chapel train. Her
mantilla of silk organza was ap-
pliqued in matching lace.
Bonita Sobol, sister of the
bride, was maid of honor. The
bridesmaids were Noreen Sobol,
. the bride's sister, Mrs. Edwin
Tarnopol, Danna Wall and Marcy.
Rosen.
Edwin Tarnopol, brother of the
bridegroom, was best man. Ushers
were Neil S o b o 1, the bride's
brother, Michael Heiedman, Mur-
ray Greenblatt, Arnold Geller and
Arthur Genser.
After a honeymoon on Puerto
Rico, the couple will reside in Oak
Park.

J. C. Dancy's Impressive `Sand Against the Storm'

Nine members of the National Council of Jewish Women Detroit
Section attended the three-day Mid-Eastern Conference of the educa-
tional and service org'anization at the Netherlands Hotel, Cincinnati.
The conference spotlighted key issues of concern to women, includ-
ing educational needs of impoverished children, programs to assist
16- to 21-year old girls in poverty and the organization's programs to
strengthen welfare and education in Israel. Mesdames Leonard Weiner,
national vice-president, Lewis B. Daniels, Mid-Eastern regional presi-
dent, B. Benedict Glazer, Mid-Eastern regional corresponding secre-
tary, and Regine Freund Cohane, parliamentarian of the region, played
! active roles. Other Detroit-area delegates include Mesdames M. Morton
Barak, Detroit Section president, Frederick Shevin, Herschel Kreger,
Clement Hopp and Jerome Grossman.
Mr. and Mrs. Zigmunt Konigsberger, 15895 Harden Circle, South-
field, will spend the Passover Holiday in El Paso, with their children
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey L. Horwitz (Annette Gladstone) and grandchil-
dren Lee Jeffry and Lisa Deborah.
Bee Kalt, of the Bee Kalt Travel Service, has just returned from
an American Airline familiarization tour to San Francisco and Los
Angeles where she checked hotels and areas of special interest for the
traveler. Mrs. Kalt also sailed on the Matson liner "Mariposa" down
the West Coast on an inspection trip. Harold Kalt, of the same agency,
was one of a select group of travel agents to be invited by the French
Line to inspect the S.S. France.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Letzer have just returned from a month's
vacation in Mexico where they visited Mexico City, Ixtapan and
Acapulco.
Leslie Allen Greenblatt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Greenblatt of
Turner Ave. left for the Army Tuesday. The family held a gathering
for him prior to his departure.
An engagement party for Miss Susan Levine and Mr. Moshe
Dworkin will be held Saturday evening at the Labor Zionist Institute.
That morning, Mr. Dworkin will be called to the Torah at Adas Shalom
Synagogue in honor of the couple's approaching marriage. (See engage-

many of its yearly musical produc-

ment Service. She taught for
several years at Temple Beth El,
Shaarey Zedek and Adas Shalom.
A key leader in the formation
of the Michigan Branch of the Na-
tional Women's League of the
United Synagogue of America, Mrs.
Markel became its first president
and served in that capacity for
five years. For three terms, she
was president of Adas Shalom
Sisterhood.
For over 30 years, she has been
executive secretary for the Mo'os
Hittim Organization, ws organizer
and first president of the Univer-
sity Area Women's Clubs in the
Northwest area and is a past presi-
dent of the Music Study Club of
Detroit.

graduate of the Woodmere Acad-

City. Mr. Dworkin, a graduate of
Wayne State University, was a
Woodrow Wilson Fellow, doing
graduate work at the Universities
of Wisconsin and Minnesota. He
