ALLIED JEWISH CAMPAIGN
PROCLAMATION

by the Rabbis of Greater Detroit

Are we our brother's keeper? The answer, emphatically, is "Yes!". In a world too often ravaged
by inhumanity and indifference, the effort represented by the Allied Jewish Campaign is a healing balm
which brings us into kinship with Jews everywhere who are, in need.

Today more than 750,.000 faces reflect.that need. They are the uprooted, the. homeless, the im-
migrants halfway across the world who look to the Allied Jewish Campaign for help in establishing a
decent life for themselves, a secure future for their children. They are the infirm, the troubled, the needy
on our own doorstep, for whom the Campaign provides self respect through vital health and -welfare, edu-
cation and culture, and communal service programs.

Therefore, we, the undersigned, representing the Jewish religious leadership of the Detroit area,
call upon our fellow-Jea), to become aware of the need and of their duty, and to do their utmost
for the Allied Jewish Campaign. Do give generously of your time and substance to this community-wide
effort, so that the basic principle of "kol Yisroel arevini zeh lozeh," that all Jews form a fellowship of
mutual responsibility, may remain unbroken for yet another year.
