19437 Livernois, has made many
changes - to better service custom-
ers. The staff has been enlarged
by four; they have reorganized the
entire office by putting in a switch-
board. This will greatly improve
the service to all their 'customers
and eliminate a few of the pro-
blems that have existed in the past.
Also, they have taken over addi-
tional offices at 19443 Livernois,
under the subsidiary of Groups Un-
limited. Now they will be in a posi-
tion to further improve and handle
many more group departures,
which they have become known
for in the past few years.

able in eyewear, now being shown
at PRESCRIPTION OPTICIANS,

basic shapes are sculptured in sim-
ple lines which accentuate the eye
and assure the wearer of facial
beauty. The colors are conserva-
tive but rich, due to a highly pol-
ished finish treatment previously
unknown in eyewear.

"People with elevated choles-
terol, when compared with others
who are in the same age group
and do not have high cholesterol,
show a high incidence of coronary
heart disease, as clearly shown in
the studies . • . on the Jews in
Israel" and other similar studies.
This is indicated in "Diet and
Live" by Dr. Joseph I. Goodman,
published by World Publishing
Co.
This "guide to corrective eat-
ing," which contains diets and diet
instructions by Alice Propst
Hoover, a nationally known dieti-
cian, provides most necessary ad-
vice on nutrition, obesity, use of
drugs, diabetes, cholesterol and
other problems.
Dr. Goodman, chief of the dia-
betes clinic at Mt. Sinai Hospital
in Cleveland, has gone into great
detail in describing some of the
illnesses related to dietetic prob-
lems.
Commenting on the view that
eating has been called ."the great
American disease," Dr. Goodman
states:
"Americans eat too much in

most cases, too little in some cases,
and the wrong things a great deal
of the time, all in violation of the
common-sense a d a g e, 'You are
what you eat.' This situation de-
scribes the development of nutri-
tional deficiencies, the adequacies
of the American diet, food quack-
ery, undernutrition and the vari-
ous ailments that stem from poor
diets.
"Diet and Live" is a thorough
book. It covers avenues leading
to the seriousness of poor dieting
and describes the ailments and
health impairments which should
serve as warnings against quack-
ery, poor dieting, overnutrition.
While "Diet and Live" is a seri-
ous work that will undoubtedly
prove of value to professional peo-
ple dealing with diets—physicians
and dieticians—it is so well writ-
ten, the subject so clearly develop-
ed, that the book will prove a real
guide for laymen reading it.

Suggests Tougher Laws
on Synagogue Defacement

AND HIS ORCHESTRA

BALTIMORE (JTA) — Strength-
ening of the laws regarding syna-
gogue and church desecrations, by
making such an act a felony call-
ing for stiffer punishment, was ad-
vocated by Robert J. Lally, chief
of the Baltimore County Police.
He issued that call after a con-
ference with Leon Sachs, executive
director of the Baltimore Jewish
Council, following a smearings of
anti-Semitic and anti-Negro slogans
in this city, some signed "Ameri-
can Nazi Party."
Slogans were smeared twice on
the walls of the Chizuk Amuno
Synagogue, of the Shepard Pratt
Hospital, and on a beam over one
of the prominent highways. Some
of the slogans proclaimed "Hitler
Was Right."
Pointing out that, at present,
such defacements are only mis-
demeanors, calling for minor pun-
ishment upon conviction, Chief
Lally said: "If it were felony to
engage in such acts, perpetrators
would know they faced stiffer
sentences and the hoodlums might
be deterred from their reckless
forays."

Israel, France Sign
New Trade Agreement

PARIS (JTA) — A new com-
mercial agreement was signed here
Tuesday b et we en Israel and
France, providing increases for the
value of some of the Israeli ex-
ports, especially f r u i t juices,
wines, olives and matzo.
The amount of French exports
to Israel under the newt pact was
not indicated, but note was taken
of that fact that French exports to
Israel in 1965 were up 14 per cent
as compared with 1964.
Under the new pact, which ex-
tends the previously existing Fran-
co-Israeli commercial agreement,
Israel will be able to import in
the next year $460,000 worth of
fruit juices, instead of the $200,000
worth it imported from France in
1965; and $100,000 worth of wines
and matzo, compared to last year's
$60,000 worth. Israel will also be
permitted to send to France, for
the first time, transistors, electric
valves and instant coffee.
