JERUSALEM—A motion of non-
confidence in the coalition gov-
ernment introduced in the Knesset
by two opposition parties was
overwhelmingly defeated Wednes-
day by a vote of 65 to 30, with
five abstentions.
The motion was based on re-
marks allegedly made by Foreign
Minister Abba Eban in a recent
interview printed by the Parisian
newspaper Le Monde in which
5 an was quoted as presumably
eling the former government
of David Ben-Gurion as "military
adventurists." In the heated de-
bate, Eban told the Knesset his
remarks on "military adventurism"
referred not to Ben-Gurion's ten-
ure as prime minister but to the
last election campaign when Ben-
Gurion ran for the Knesset on the
independent Rafi list.
The debate on the motion mark-
ed the first open collaboration be-
tween Ben-Gurion and Menahem
Beigin leader of the ‘Herut party
which has formed a fusion called
Gahal with the old Liberal • Party.
The motion had been introduced
by Rafi and - Gahal. The voting
marked the first time the Israel
Communist party supported the
government coalition, the Com-
munists lining up with the pro-
government forces, this time to de-
feat the joint Rafi-Gahal move.

He performed two concertos

was Israel's
;foreign minister,
lAbba Eban.
After the con-
ctert, E b an and
the virtuoso ex-
changed remarks
about the desk-
lability of improv-
d cultural rela-
tions between Is-
rael and the
Oistrakh USSR, at a recep-
ten given for the violinist at the
Dan Hotel here. The foreign minis-
ter expressed the hope that Israeli-
Soviet cultural relations would ex-
pand. Stressing the same principle,
Oistrakh, in his reply to the toast
y Eban, said: "With my violin, I
anted not only to play—but also
express my sympathy to you."
